About Us
I have owned birds for approximately the last 25 years, starting with a little blue parakeet named Nikki when I was around 5 years old. In addition to little Nikki the parakeet, I have owned finches, parrotlets, quail, cockatiels, conures, macaws, and Quaker parrots. I began breeding birds in 1999, focusing mainly on Quaker parrots, but also successfuly raising parrotlets, macaws, and of course the Gouldian Finches. At the present time my working situation does not allow me to raise the more labor intensive species like parrots, but I am happily content raising the beautiful little gems, Gouldian Finches. In the spring of 2006 I was able to expand my existing aviary by building a large, 16 x 16 foot outdoor planted aviary that is completely dedicated to the Gouldians.
Let me introduce myself; my name is Erin, and besides raising birds I do work full time as an office manager for a local medical practice. I have always been an animal lover, owning everything from mice to horses. I currently own 57 Gouldian Finches; 7 button quail, a saltwater reef aquarium; a Great Dane, an English Mastiff, and an Akita. Quite a zoo! :-)
I am a current member of the NFSS (National Finch and Softbill Society) and am striving to produce beautiful and healthy Lady Gouldian Finches that have been raised in an outdoor aviary to ensure hardiness.
I must thank my new husband for all of his hard work helping to build the new aviary, for allowing me to turn his house into a zoo, and for supporting and helping me with all of my crazy animal obsessions! ;)
